“I’m so proud of you,” Sonja Norwood wrote to her granddaughter. “You are phenomenal,” she exclaimed.

“Congratulations on receiving your Associate Degree in Music Production from @lafilmschool-SUMMA CUM LAUDE,” Sonja shared. “Your work ethic is unbelievable,” the celebrity grandmother continued.

“Love you Rootah,” Sonja cheered. “On to your Bachelor’s in Entertainment Business,” Norwood declared. “I love that part,” she doted. “Kudos to your mother @brandy for being the be-all to everything Sy’rai. I’m here for you and everything you do!”

Sy’Rai has been doing a lot with her time and energy as of late. In addition to graduating with her associate’s degree, the young adult has also released her first single, ‘On My Own,’ with the accompanying music video.

Brandy, who executive produced Sy’Rai’s new track, expressed pride in her daughter’s evolution as a recording artist during a recent interview with E! News. “Her music is fire,” the legendary artist shared. “I’ve just been listening to that and trying to help her decide what songs she should come out with,” Brandy shared.

Sy’Rai promised her fans something unique before releasing her latest project. “God has blessed me with a platform where people can be like, ‘Okay, her [Brandy] daughter came out with music, I want to go see what that’s about,’” Smith recently told VIBE.

“But also, there’s another side of it where it’s like, ‘Well, she doesn’t sound as good as her mom,’ or, ‘Her music is not that good compared to her mom,’” Sy’Rai revealed. “That scares me,” she admitted.

“I just really want people to understand that there is a difference. I am me, and my mom is my mom,” the rising star shared. “If I sound like her then I must be doing something right, but at the same time, it is a lot of pressure to exceed someone’s expectations when they already set something so high. I just don’t want to disappoint anybody. We want the audience to understand, ‘Okay, she’s great just as she is.’”

Fans can listen to Sy’rai’s music on YouTube and other digital platforms.
