‘On My Own’ is officially out in the music sphere! Sy’Rai Smith, daughter of music superstar Brandy, released the music video for her hit single on Tuesday (May 16).
The visuals for Sy’Rai’s video were epic. The youngster gave some fans nostalgia as she used a vehicle similar to the truck her mother’s character had in the hit television series, Moesha.
“My baby Sy’Rai Smith and her first music video,” Brandy said of her daughter’s accomplishment. “#OnMyOwn out now,” the legendary singer shared.
Fans learned of Sy’Rai’s new single release earlier this month. The young artist took to Instagram to announce her latest endeavor.
“So deserving,” Brandy wrote to her daughter. “I love you so much,” the celebrity mom continued. “I am super happy and proud of you.”
Many others were excited to hear Sy’Rai’s new song. “Amazing,” one social media follower exclaimed. “Congratulations,” the fan continued. “Beautiful song! Beautiful video! Great choices! Looking forward to what your music career brings!”
Another of Sy’Rai’s followers said, “I just love Sy’rai she’s a breath of fresh air that the music industry desperately needs! This song sounds amazing.”
Sy’Rai is focused on building a name for herself in the industry that stands alone. The budding star recently shared her desire to appreciate her mom’s legacy while carving her own path in the music industry.
“I’ve always been close to my mom, but there is a time where you grow up [and] you’re not as close,” Sy’Rai said of the bond she has established with her mother. “As soon as I got out of that stage where I wanted to do everything by myself, I realized that my mom is really my best friend,” the young adult revealed.
“We do regular mom-daughter stuff. We go see movies, and then sometimes we just chill at the house and not do anything. We like watching Dance Moms or Bring It. My mom really pours a lot of life lessons into me.”
One of the lessons Brandy pours into her daughter is to never settle. “[She has taught me] just to really be independent and know your value in this world and not everybody deserves to be in your life,” Sy’Rai shared.
“Be very selective, humble, and kind because it’s really important,” the young star continued. “She’s really taught me to be kind, just by setting the example. She’s the nicest human being, and she’s just very angelic. I think me seeing her like that all my life — I want to be kind to people.”
