Judy and Da Brat are navigating a bit of a storm after revealing their sperm donor is white. The celebrity couple shared the news during a recent interview with The Root.
“We didn’t have a lot to choose from,” Da Brat shared. “He definitely wasn’t Black,” the expectant star said.
“I think we did a great job with picking,” Da Brat continued. “He’s handsome, he’s tall, and I think he’s going to look beautiful with my wife’s egg.”

“We had no idea going into this that our chances of a Black donor would be slim to none,” Judy shared. “With my genetic testing, I’m the carrier of four disorders that reduced our chances of a Black donor down to one person, and that one person had very limited info/portfolio to judge on … including background.”
Judy expressed disappointment in the backlash she and Da Brat received but, nevertheless, told her fans and foes she understood. “A lot of people don’t even realize all the things when it comes to the [IVF] journey including [the] lack of Black donors,” the businesswoman said.
“Of course, we didn’t want to add any other stigmas or anything to our child,” Judy shared. “But we had severely limited options,” the entrepreneur said. “Thanks to all the people supporting us on our journey. I truly hope this brings more awareness to Black men to donate.”
