Rihanna celebrated her thirty-fifth birthday with cake, family, friends, and her fabulous baby bump. The pregnant star wore a beautiful gown to her birthday celebration outing that showed off her protruding stomach.
Rihanna uploaded two pictures from her bash that placed emphasis on her “Rhenna Cake.” Those who follow the recording artist know Rhenna as Rihanna’s alter ego. What began as an Internet meme took on a life of its own eight years ago as the singer began to market the image to her supporters.
Many fans were delighted to see Rihanna pay tribute to Rhenna earlier this week. “Rhenna is eight years old,” one social media follower noted. Supporters also sent well wishes to Rihanna in light of her pregnancy, which the singer revealed during her Super Bowl halftime show on February 12, 2023.
“It was almost like an out-of-body experience,” Rihanna said of performing during the Super Bowl halftime show and of announcing her expectancy. “I have not been on stage in seven years,” the singer shared with British Vogue. “Seven years,” she added. “From zero to Super Bowl? That’s mental.”
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky welcomed their son last year. “Essentially, from one person I became two,” Rihanna said of her labor and delivery experience. “You walk into the hospital as a couple and leave as a family of three,” she continued.
“Those first days are insane. You don’t sleep. At all. Not even if you wanted to. We came home, cold turkey, [and] had no one. It was just us as parents and our baby.”
Giving birth and navigating her new life as a mom inspired Rihanna to accept the invitation to perform at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. “It’s this knowing that you can do anything,” she shared with British Vogue. “Even things that seem the craziest,” Rihanna added.
“Like, ‘I’m going to say yes to the Super Bowl in the middle of postpartum? What the heck am I thinking?’ But you’re geeked on a challenge like that because you know what your body just did. You feel this sense of ‘Nothing is impossible.'”
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are expecting their second child to arrive later this year. The couple celebrates their son’s first birthday in May.
