Mariah Carey is enjoying the slopes with her kids. The legendary singer shared pictures from her vacation on Wednesday (Jan. 18).
“Matching ensems (sic) on the slopes,” Mariah exclaimed in her social media post. The celebrity mom also shared photos of her with her daughter, Monroe, to drive home the point of them being a matching pair. Mariah’s son, Moroccan, wore a black jacket but was, nevertheless, ready for the snow.
Mariah has spent quite a bit of time in cold weather these past few weeks. The ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ singer took her traditional trip to Aspen during the holiday season. Mariah and Monroe were sure to get in a bit of holiday shopping before engaging in work commitments.
In many aspects, Mariah’s career has shaped her life as a mom. It is in her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, that Carey delves into her divorce from Nick Cannon.
“Along with double the joy came double the responsibility,” Mariah says of giving birth to twins. “It was a lot of work and a lot of having to be home and available,” she shares. “Making the necessary adjustments to being working parents in entertainment took its toll on our relationship, and the end of our marriage came fast, as it began,” Mariah admits. “Even though we had prenuptials in place, the divorce took two years to become final and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees.”
Although Mariah and Nick came to a consensus about the end of their marriage, Carey tells her memoir’s readers that she believed she and her ex could have worked through their differences.
“Our desire to have children became a force of nature and why we got married so quickly,” Mariah tells her memoir’s readers.
“Honestly, I think Nick and I could have worked it out between the two of us, but egos and emotions got inflamed (which can translate into many billable lawyer hours, and ultimately, it did,” she admits. “It was tough,” Carey says of her and Cannon’s decision to part ways. “We both wanted to make sure everything was cool for our family,” she shares.
Monroe and Moroccan are the oldest of Nick Cannon’s twelve kids. The twins celebrate their twelfth birthdays in April.
