Spelman College is getting a new class of freshmen later this month. Krista Campbell and Zahara Jolie-Pitt will be two of many to start their college careers at the HBCU this fall.

Krista’s parents, Warryn and Erica Campbell, alluded to the notion of their daughter choosing Spelman college a few weeks ago. Krista had just graduated from Hamilton High School in Los Angeles, California, to the pride of her family. “So proud of you, Pop-Pop,” Warryn wrote to his daughter. Krista’s enrollment at Spelman was set in stone earlier this week.

Warryn shared what appeared to be a flyer for a celebration event featuring Krista’s college choice. “Krista’s going to Spelman,” the flyer read. “We’re excited to announce Krista Campbell has chosen to continue her education at Spelman College,” the invite added. Dozens took to the comments section of Warryn’s Instagram post to welcome Krista to the “sisterhood” of Spelman.

Another student who received a warm welcome from the Spelman sisterhood was Zahara Jolie-Pitt. The teen’s mom, Angelina Jolie, revealed the news of her daughter choosing the HBCU on Sunday (Jul. 31). Jolie shared a candid of Zahara with her fellow Spelman colleagues to share the good news.

“Zahara with her Spelman sisters,” Angelina told her social media fans. “Congratulations to all new students starting this year,” Jolie continued. “A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.”

Zahara Jolie-Pitt has made quite an impact on her mother. Angelina Jolie told Vanessa Nakate in 200 that she has learned much from her daughter whom she adopted from Ethiopia more than a decade ago.

“My daughter is from Ethiopia, one of my children … And I have learned so much from her,” the director shared. “She is my family, but she is an extraordinary African woman and her connection to her country, her continent, is her own and it’s something I only stand back in awe of,” Jolie shared.

Zahara is one of six children Angelina Jolie parents. The fall semester at Spelman College begins on August 18, 2022.
