The BET Awards 2020 was held on June 26, 2022 and all of Black Hollywood turned out for the festivities, including some of our BCKOnline favorites. Marsai Martin, Miles Brown, Akira Akbar, and more attended the 20th annual event. And the big winner of the night, among all of the young star nominees was, Marsai Martin.

In a recent Instagram post, Martin wrote in regards to her win, “No words (fr I lost my train of thought lmao) huge thanks to the entire team at @bet for the consistent love and support every year.”
She continued, “No one celebrates black people and our culture the way that y’all do.”
Martin has gone from Black-ish actress to mogul in what seems like the blink of an eye. The talented teen started her own production company, Genius Productions, producing and starring in her own feature-length film, Little. As a result of this accomplishment, she made it into the Guinness Book of World Records. Most recently, Martin has released her own a nail care line, Mari by Marsai. The talented 17-year-old is also in the process of working on another production in conjunction with Disney.
In addition to Martin, the other young star nominees include: Miles Brown, Akira Akbar, Demi Singleton, and Saniyya Sidney. All of the nominees were present at the ceremony except Demi Singleton.
And of course, the young stars hit the red carpet in true style!
Miles Brown was clad in Givenchy and Michael Ferrera.
Akbar, known for her role as Ashley Banks, on Bel-Air, was extremely excited about the night. It was her first BET Awards ceremony. She looked like nothing less than a princess for the night as she wore royal blue Dior.
Saniyya Sidney, who portrayed Venus Williams in King Richard, was excited about the night and her gift from the Queen B herself. She posted on Instagram, “Thank you @beyonce for this beautiful tennis ball bag. I will forever cherish it.”
The young star was dressed in Armani and, although she didn’t take home a personal award for the night, she was indeed a winner as her movie, King Richard, won “best movie.”
Congratulations to all of the young star nominees and to Marsai Martin on her win. They truly represented their generation in grand style for the night. Cannot wait until next year!
