“He was born in 2017,” Jayson said of his son, Jayson Christopher Tatum Jr., during a post-game press conference. “That was the biggest year of my life,” the star athlete shared. “[I was] starting this new chapter in my career and I just had a child. My mindset was not to sacrifice either. I was going to be the best father I could as well as the best basketball player.”

Jayson Tatum often takes to Instagram to celebrate his life as a dad. The basketball player has also invited his son on the court to practice alongside dad before the big games. “Your son is beautiful and watching the bond between y’all is even more beautiful,” one social media follower declared after seeing a picture of Jayson and his little one playing ball on the court.

Although it appears that the Celtics player has parenting down to a science, Tatum recently admitted during his press conference that he goes along with the flow of things. “There was no guideline and there was no exact way to do it,” the celebrity father said in reference to his determination to be a great athlete and father at the beginning of his journey with the NBA. “It was all about what was natural,” Tatum added. “And I think that’s just what it is. I just do what’s natural. I know I’m around him every day.”

The celebrity father went on to say, “I was 19 [years old] when I got drafted. So it’s kind of like we’re growing up together. As he’s gotten older, I’m going through my career sharing these moments and experiences together as we grow up. I think that’s the coolest part for me.”
