Earlier this week, one of the stars of the show, Sammi Haney, broke the sad news to her official Instagram account.

“Sad to say that Raising Dion is CANCELED 😳😢 Thank you for all of the amazing support we got from all of our wonderful fans! Season 2 was a success, equal to Season 1, even if just looking at how many people watched all of it and wanted a season 3!” she shared on the platform.

She continued, “The only “silver lining” is that this does free me up to pursue other roles. My Netflix contract kept me from accepting other major roles offered to me (1 actually written with me in mind) on other tv shows! So if you work for a major studio, hit me up again, I’m ready!”

Ja’Siah Young, aka Dion himself, also took to Instagram to break the news to his fans and reassure them that, “he will still be acting,” in his video address.

The pre-teen wrote on his post, “sorry to announce there will be no @raisingdion Season 3. But I love you guys You’re true fans!! and you really showed up and showed out!!! God makes no mistakes, trust in him!!”

In addition to Young and Haney, Raising Dion starred Alisha Wainwright, who starred as Dion’s mother, Nicole, Rome Flynn (Tevin), Griffin Robert Faulkner (Brayden), Jazmyn Simon (Kat), Ali Ahn (Suzanne Wu), Gavin Munn (Jonathan King), Aubriana Davis (Janelle Carr), Tracey Bonner (Simone Carr), Josh Ventura (David Marsh), and Michael B. Jordan, who portrayed Dion’s father, Mark Warren.

If you aren’t familiar with the premise of the show, the show first premiered in 2019 and season two was launched in February of this year.

According to Variety Magazine, the story followed Nicole (Alisha Wainwright) and her son Dion (Ja’Siah Young) after Dion starts to manifest several mysterious, superhero-like abilities. Two years after defeating the Crooked Man (Jason Ritter), Season two picked up with Dion as he continues honing his powers with the support of his mom and Tevin (Rome Flynn), his Biona trainer who catches Nicole’s eye. After befriending new student Brayden (Griffin Robert Faulkner) – a fellow powered kid – a series of alarming events unfold, and Dion learns that danger is still looming.

Seasons one and two of Raising Dion is still currently streaming on Netflix.
