Zaya Wade is trending online after debuting her boyfriend on Instagram over the holiday weekend.
On Sunday, Zaya took to her Instagram to post photos of her boyfriend, Hudson, along with members of her family from their Easter celebration.
She captioned, “I’ve had the best weekend spending quality time with my family and s/o for Easter. I hope everyone has had a wonderful Easter today and a wonderful Passover this week! I love you guys.”
Hudson, who is transgender and goes by the he/him pronouns, also posted snaps, including one of him kissing Zaya. “Passover and Easter have never been more fun. I Love You,” Hudson wrote in the caption.
Zaya Wade came out as transgender in 2019. The then-12-year-old made her public debut as a member of the LGBTQ+ community at the PRIDE parade in Miami.
In a recent interview with BuzzFeed, Gabrielle shared why she and Dwyane Wade support their trans daughter Zaya “out loud” and encourage her live her authentic self.
“It’s important for us to live and love out loud,” Union said. “We didn’t exactly understand why [supporting Zaya’s trans identity] was a thing, because it’s like, we love all our kids out loud.”
“But it is a thing and a lot of people do need an example. They do need that representation. So yeah, we’re gonna post our family, we’re going to live out loud, we’re going to love out loud, and we’re going to speak out loud and lead in however each situation calls for us to be leaders when things are not where they should be.”
The Cheaper by the Dozen actress also emphasized the importance of parents being ‘protective guides’ for their children.
“As our children show up, it is our job to believe them when they tell us who they are and not impose our dreams, hopes, fears, and desires on them,” she said. “It’s our job to be loving, compassionate, protective guides for our children, but their lives are their lives and we have to respect that.” She added, “We do not believe in any kind of shaming for existing. That is bizarre, cruel, and harmful.”
