"Love You So Much"

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union celebrated their daughter Zaya Wade’s fourteenth birthday to the fullest on Saturday (May 29). The celebrity parents threw a skating party for the teen and joined Zaya’s siblings in giving tributes online.

“Happy Birthday @zayawade,” Gabrielle wrote to her stepdaughter. “We [love] you so much and we are so proud of you,” the L.A.’s Finest actress shared. “Keep shining.” Dwyane Wade took to Instagram Stories to commemorate his daughter’s birthday while Zaya’s cousin, Dahveon Morris, wrote a tribute online.

“Happy birthday @zayawade,” Dahveon said. “I love you so much. I will always have your back through it all. Live it up,” Zaya’s older brother, Zaire Wade, took to Instagram with celebratory remarks as well.

“I’ll always be here to love and protect you, through thick and thin,” the young adult wrote to his younger sister. “You got a brother in me 5L no matter what and Imma (sic) make sure as you get older you understand that,” Zaire declared. “I love you kid. Happy g-day @zayawade. Continue to inspire and persevere through all! We got your back on this side Zaya.”

Zaya Wade has come under much criticism since deciding to live authentically two years ago. The youngster came out as transgender shortly after attending the PRIDE Parade in Miami in 2019. Zaya and her parents have endured the harsh scrutiny of adults ever since.

“Our home will never be a safe space for bigots,” Gabrielle Union shared during a recent interview with PEOPLE magazine. “I look at problematic language as violence and I’m never going to expose anyone I love to violence, whether that be verbal, physical, emotional, or spiritual,” the celebrity mom said.

“Jerks exist in every area of life,” Union acknowledged. “We function from a place of truth in our household,” the actress shared with PEOPLE. “But if you come at us, oh, be very prepared.”

Zaya is one of four children Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade parent together. The celebrity couple has one biological child, Kaavia James, together.
