For weeks now, we have watched the divorce drama unfold between Kanye “Ye” West and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. The 41-year-old recently stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show and told the talk show host that taking the “high road” with Kanye is a “challenge.”

“As hard as it can be sometimes, I try to ignore it, and try to do whatever’s best for the kids. Take the high road!” Kim expressed in her interview. The SKIMS founder says that she views some of her obstacles as “lessons,” stating that she likes to, “learn, move on, and be a good person.”

Kardashian also told DeGeneres that, “I used to care so much about narratives and what’s true and what’s not true on anything, on any subject. I just live my life the way that I think is right and the way that I feel is right in my soul and just push forward and do the best that I can.”

Kardashian sees her parents, Kris Jenner and the late Robert Kardashian, as “good example” of how to make a relationship work. She told DeGeneres that as a result of their example, she tries to do the best for her own children’s sake.

“I’m always just hopeful, and no matter what goes on, it’s the father of my kids. I’ll always be protective. I always want my kids to see the best of the best so I just try to—as hard as it can be sometimes—I do try to ignore it and just try to do whatever’s best for the kids.”

West and Kardashian share four children: North, (8-years-old), Saint, (6-years-old), Chicago, (4-years-old), and Psalm (2-years-old). If you remember, Kim and Kanye started dating in 2012, but met each other long before then.

“I met him I think in 2002 or 2003,” Kardashian told Ryan Seacrest during Keeping Up With the Kardashians 10th anniversary special, which aired in 2017. “He was recording a song with Brandy, and I was her friend. I vividly remember hanging out with him, and then they did a video together, so I’d see him a few times. He was asking his friends: ‘Who is this Kim Kardashian?’ He didn’t know what my name was.”

Kardashian filed for divorce from the famed rapper in February 2021. In March of 2022, a judge granted the reality star’s request to be declared legally single. Make sure to tune-in to the full interview between DeGeneres and Kardashian on April 13.
