Tia Mowry continues to give women struggling with infertility encouragement by sharing her story. The Family Reunion star recently discussed her experience with endometriosis, and how she overcame the condition to have children, in an Instagram post.
“I’m so thankful every day that Cree and Cairo came into our lives,” Tia told her social media fans. “Having endometriosis meant pregnancy wasn’t easy for me,” the actress shared. “I wasn’t even sure I would get there – I was so scared when I first heard my diagnosis, thinking I might not be able to have kids.”
Tia Mowry opened up about her experience with endometriosis during an interview with Shape last year. “The doctor who diagnosed me, she’s a Harvard graduate and she’s a Black woman,” Mowry revealed. “She understood where I was coming from. She understands, you know, my culture,” the actress said.
The doctor told Tia that she needed to make lifestyle changes to overcome her struggles with fertility. The actress ultimately attacked the condition with better nutrition coupled with a good fitness routine. The efforts paid off as Tia and her husband, Cory Hardrict, conceived their daughter, Cairo, months after the actress implemented the changes.
“I know that I’m not the only one who has been on that same journey,” Mowry said in her recent Instagram post. “But I learned that having endo doesn’t necessarily mean that a person’s dream of having a child won’t come true,” the actress shared. “And after making dietary changes, focusing on my health, and a lot of prayer came my beautiful children. So for others out there with endometriosis, I see you – and send you love, strength, encouragement, and healing.”
Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict’s daughter celebrates her fourth birthday in May. The couple’s son, Cree, turns 11-years-old in June. March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. Learn more about the condition here.
