Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade’s daughter Kaavia James is 3 years old today! On Sunday, the couple posted a joint birthday message to their Instagram pages in honor of their little girl’s special day.
The message read: “I cannot believe that @kaaviajames is 3 years old today!!!! Time is flying by so fast. We stay in awe of her intelligence, her compassion for others, her beauty, how loving she is and her fearlessness! We are honored and blessed to be this lil dynamo’s parents.”
On Saturday, Kaavia’s parents threw her a Moana-themed birthday party, complete with characters from the movie, face-painting and a Moana Princess cake.
Attendees such as Tia Mowry and daughter Cairo shared just how much fun they had at the bash. “We had so much for yesterday celebrating @kaaviajames birthday,” Tia wrote in her Instagram stories. “Cairo had so much fun that i couldn’t even get a picture of the girls together,” she added.
Gabrielle also shared, “Such a great time at @kaaviajames 3rd birthday party! The Moana theme was a big hit with everyone except the birthday girl who was disappointed there were no zombies. Luckily, after awhile she made peace with Moana and Maui and had a blast with her friends & family.”
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade welcomed their first child together via surrogate in 2018. “A LOVELY DAY. We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that our miracle baby arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days. Welcome to the party sweet girl!” the Wades announced on Instagram.
Union recently opened up about her surrogacy journey in her new book, ‘You Got Something Stronger?’. In the book, Union shares how she felt upon meeting her daughter for the first time.
“The nurses took Kaav to the newborn nursery. Dwyane, my mom and I all reassembled in a hospital room, waiting for them to weigh Kaav and clean her up. I put on a surgical gown for modesty so I could do skin-to-skin bonding with her. My mother and D were crying, our surrogate was crying, our baby nurses were crying, and I was a mess. Then the door opened and Kaavia James was brought into our lives.”
Happy Birthday, Kaavia!
