“It really hurt my feelings,” Kandi said during a recent episode of PEOPLE’s new podcast Me Becoming Mom. “I don’t like really talking about it because it makes me emotional,” Burruss continued. “I don’t think she was trying to hurt my feelings,” Kandi told the show’s host, Zoë Ruderman. “But when she saw it, or heard that I was doing it, she was just like, ‘Aren’t you afraid that you’re not gonna bond with your baby?'”

Kandi Burruss shared her plans to expand her family by way of a surrogate about three years ago. The celebrity mom announced her and Todd Tucker’s expectancy in 2019.

“I’m pretty much an open book,” Kandi shared during an interview with Busy Philipps of Busy Tonight. “I had to go through the IVF process to get my son, and I have been having some issues,” Burruss revealed. “And this is something we were discussing, so I felt like, you know what, why hold back? I might as well talk about it. I think it’s important to share.”

Sharing her experience included more than Kandi discussing how she and Todd planned to build the nursery for their daughter. Burruss also had to adjust her perspective about surrogacy and tune out the negativity of the family friend who claimed the RHOA star would not be able to bond with her baby girl.

“She’s older, so I guess her initial thinking is like just because somebody doesn’t physically have their baby that they won’t be able to have that same bond as a mother who physically pushed the baby out,” Kandi Burruss shared during her segment on Me Becoming Mom. “And I can tell you for sure, if you ever had a doubt in your mind, that is not true,” the celebrity mom declared.

Blaze Tucker was born on November 22, 2019. She is the youngest of Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker’s two kids. Kandi has three kids in all.
