Gucci Mane celebrated the past while looking forward to the future this past weekend. The ‘Wake Up in the Sky’ artist commemorated “1017 Day” with his wife, Keyshia Ka’Oir, and their son, Ice Davis, by his side.
The number “1017” is significant for more reasons than one. Gucci Mane’s new label is named 1017 Brick Squad. The number also corresponds with the house number of Gucci’s grandfather.
Keyshia and Gucci hosted an elegant event to commemorate the launch of his new label, which served as the primary inspiration behind “1017 Day.” The celebrity couple held a dinner party that several A-list individuals in the music industry and beyond attended.
Julie Greenwald, Atlantic chairwoman/COO, surprised Gucci Mane with the presentation of 18 plaques, which represented 18 of Gucci’s hit singles. “Look at all of your success,” Greenwald said during her presentation at Gucci and Keyshia’s dinner. “The reason why I know you’re going to keep signing and developing amazing talent is because you are an amazing talent,” the COO concluded.
Gucci Mane released a new project, called So Icy Boyz, on Friday (Oct. 15). The new compilation album features his new signees who include BigWalkDog, Big Scarr, and Pooh Shiesty.
“I ain’t got enough thank you’s in the world for him,” BigWalkDog shared with Billboard. The Mississippi native was booked for an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel within months of signing with 1017 Brick Squad. “He comes to the streets and finds people,” BigWalkDog continued. “He ain’t just YouTube surfing. He comes where you’re at. I’m from the Delta. I don’t know how he found me.’
Gucci Mane’s determination is part of the driving force behind his success in the industry. “It feels good to be appreciated,” Gucci Mane shared after receiving his plaques from Julie Greenwald. “Thank you for all of the support,” the recording artist said. “I couldn’t have done it without y’all.”
Ice Davis was dressed and ready to take the spotlight during Gucci Mane’s “1017 Day” dinner. The youngster even wore jewelry that reflected the significance of the day.
Ice is Gucci Mane and Keyshia Ka’Oir’s first child together.
