Gucci Mane feels like a first-time father with the birth of his son, Ice Davis, with his wife, Keyshia Ka’oir, despite having an older son. The celebrity dad explains his feelings during an interview with Billboard.
“Me and the mother [of my older son] were kind of like strangers,” Gucci tells the press. The rapper was not present for his older son’s birth. In fact, Gucci Mane did not learn about his son until he was 10-months-old. The celebrity father and his older son did not meet until the youngster was a 1-year-old.
Things have been different with Ice Davis. Not only was Gucci Mane present for the pregnancy and birthing experience, but the celebrity father has also taken on responsibilities at home.
“I never knew how much attention you got to pay to a baby,” Gucci Mane tells Billboard. “It’s not easy,” the recording artist adds. “It’s a great thing and I love it, but it’s definitely challenging to be a parent.”
Ice Davis is one of the producers of Gucci Mane’s latest album. “I always want my music to talk about what was going on in my life,” Mane shares. “And the most important thing in my life now is my son,” the celebrity father adds.
“Having a baby definitely made me less critical of my parents,” Gucci Mane tells the press. “Now I see that we’re all humans and do the best we can,” he adds.
The birth of Ice Davis has drastically transformed Gucci Mane into a family man. Not only has the rapper stopped going to the strip clubs every week but he has also moved away from flaunting his wealth. “He doesn’t travel with a gun anymore,” Keyshia Ka’oir tells Billboard in regards to the changes in her husband. “When we first met, the gun was on his lap at all times,” the celebrity reveals. “Now, he’s definitely a businessman.”
Ice Davis is Keyshia Ka’oir and Gucci Mane’s only child together. The celebrity couple has four kids from previous relations between the two of them.
