Jason Derulo is enjoying fatherhood. The R&B singer recently sat down with the press to discuss his life as a dad.
“It’s really been awesome,” Jason told So Mini Ways by Yahoo! Life. “You hear about all the horrors, but they don’t tell you about all the good stuff,” he added. “It’s an amazing experience,” Derulo explained.
“I have been waking up every couple hours most nights and Jena has been an absolute superhero. I’m very lucky in that department. Sometimes I just don’t know how she’s doing it, but she’s definitely the ringleader in this whole thing.”
Jason Derulo and his fiancee Jena Frumes welcomed their son, Jason King Derulo, on May 8, 2021. The celebrity father explained the motivation to name his son after him during a recent conversation with PEOPLE.
“I wanted my name to continue to thrive, and I also thought that it would bring me closer to him,” Jason shared. “It’s pretty incredible waking up every morning to a ball of sunshine,” the celebrity father doted. “It’s a whole new world that I didn’t know existed, and I’m really, really thankful.”
Fatherhood comes with many responsibilities, which include supporting his fiancee. “I’m hands-on,” Jason Derulo shared with So Mini Ways. “Jena is definitely the one doing the majority of it,” the celebrity father admitted. “But yeah, I’ve changed some diapers,” Jason added. “If she needs something, I’ll be her assistant. I’m like her sous chef.”
Little Jason is currently adjusting to life outside of his mother’s womb. Jason and Jena, however, have plans for the future that include traveling as a family among other things.
“The one place I feel like is a getaway and really serene and still has things to do is Bali,” Jason shared with the press. “That would be a place [where] I’d want to bring family and really relax and chill out,” he added.
