Toni Braxton and Keri Lewis celebrated their son Diezel Lewis’ high school graduation this past weekend. Both celebrity parents were in attendance at the young scholar’s commencement ceremony and took to Instagram to offer congratulations for the accomplishment.
“Congratulations young King,” Keri wrote to his son. “Words can not describe how proud of you I am @diezel.braxton,” the celebrity father said. “Howard University next.” Toni Braxton wrote, “Congratulations @diezel.braxton! Mom is so proud of you. Howard University here he comes!”
Diezel Braxton-Lewis is Toni Braxton and Keri Lewis’s youngest son. He was born on March 31, 2003, which was approximately ten years before his parents finalized their divorce. Toni Braxton spoke about her divorce from Keri Lewis during a 2018 interview with the Red Table Talk.
“I hated being divorced,” Toni shared with Jada Pinkett-Smith, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and Willow Smith. “I hated having to surrender to the loss,” Braxton admitted.
Keri and Toni had a period of intimacy after finalizing their divorce in 2013. “We were attempting to salvage the relationship again,” Toni said on Red Table Talk. “We were hopeful. We dated for like a good year and a half.”
The main reason for Toni and Keri’s marriage dissolution was because of the money issues they faced after she was diagnosed with Lupus in 2010 and could not work. Braxton, however, told Jada, Adrienne, and Willow that she believed her illness was the primary reason for Lewis’ departure.
“I couldn’t make money because I had lupus,” Toni shared. “That was my personal contribution to the marriage failing,” she added. “Who wants to take care of a person who’s sick all the time,” the celebrity asked. “He never said that, but I felt it. Money was the decoration on the tree. The tree itself was, I felt because I was sick he left. It made me insecure.”
Keri Lewis and Toni Braxton have two sons, Diezel and Denim, together.
