Toni Braxton spent Mother’s Day with her sons, Diezel and Denim, on Sunday (May 9). The celebrity mom shared pictures from her day out with her big “little men.”
“Being your mother is the greatest gift of all,” Toni told her sons. The celebrity mom also uploaded a candid of herself standing between her sons who were significantly taller than her in the picture.
“Happy Mother’s Day,” Toni’s mom, Evelyn Braxton, wrote. “Your sons are incredible,” the celebrity shared. “These boys know that they love their mom‼️ look at God.” Gospel recording artist BeBe Winans wrote, “Happy Mother’s Day my sister.”
Toni Braxton did not let the day pass without giving tribute to her mom for being an incredible parent. “I’m the mom I am today because of you, Mommie,” Toni wrote to her mom. “Love you … much,” the recording artist wrote to her mom.
Many have become acquainted with the Braxtons because of the family’s Reality TV show, Braxton Family Values. Toni recently talked about her religious upbringing during a conversation with Missy Elliott for Interview magazine last year.
“My mom didn’t play,” Toni said of her mom’s house rules. “We would practice all the time, and my dad was a minister,” Braxton shared. “By the time I got to high school, we were United Methodist, but my parents are still apostolic in their head. So while the people at church would celebrate holidays and things like that, we still didn’t. So it was still odd at church, but at home, we would just sing all the time.”
Singing all the time as a girl has led to a phenomenal career that has spanned more than 25 years. “I think our upbringing, coming from the church, gave us an ‘up’ on music,” Toni told Missy Elliott. “It gave us a finer-tuned ear,” the celebrity mom shared.
“It made us more conscientious because we got the practice right there,” Toni continued. “The church pulpit is the stage. You got the congregation, that’s your audience. And so we were comfortable performing by the time it came to us performing.”
