Naya Rivera is sorely missed by her ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, and son, Josey Hollis Dorsey. Ryan took to Instagram on Sunday (May 8) to commemorate Mother’s Day without Naya.
“We can’t say the word happy but we’ll say thank you for being a mother and giving me this sweet amazing boy,” Ryan shared online. The actor also uploaded a candid of Naya and Josey eating together.
Naya Rivera died last July after a boating trip in Ventura County with her son turned into a missing person incident. Rivera reportedly jumped in the water for a swim and never came up, according to her son. Naya’s body was found in the lake on Monday, July 13, 2020, which was approximately five days after she initially went missing. The GLEE star’s family released a statement following her death.
“We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers for Naya, Josey, and our family,” the celebrity’s family shared. “While we grieve the loss of our beautiful legend, we are blessed to honor her everlasting legacy and magnetic spirit. Naya was an amazing talent but was an even greater person, mother, daughter, and sister,” the statement continued.
“Thank you to the men and women of the Ventura, Tulare, and San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Departments for your commitment and unwavering effort to find Naya. We extend endless gratitude and ovation to the heroine who found her. Thank you to her friends, colleagues, and fans for your continuous support. Heaven gained our sassy angel.”
Josey was Naya Rivera and Ryan Dorsey’s only child together. Naya and Ryan were married for four years before ending their marriage in 2018. Josey turns 6-years-old in September.
