Halle Berry’s child support payments to her ex, Gabriel Aubry, have been reduced to $8,000 per month. The victory comes Halle’s way after the actress deemed her previous payment rates as extortion.
According to The Blast,
“Sources close to the situation tell The Blast, the ‘X-Men’ actress and Aubry recently negotiated a settlement in their ongoing child support case, after arguing over the amount.
As of March 1, 2021, Halle Berry will now pay her ex $8,000 a-month. As we reported, Halle was previously ordered to pay Gabriel $16,000 a month in child support.”
Some may remember Halle Berry complaining about having to pay Gabriel Aubry $16,000 in child support. The actress did not take issue with financially supporting her daughter, Nahla Aubry. Halle, however, expressed her disdain for providing funds for which Gabriel could use for personal expenses not related to their child.
“I understand some parents (man or woman) may need help, but I also feel that in these modern times both men and women have the responsibility to financially take care of their children, work hard, and make every effort to do so,” Halle told her social media fans. “The way many laws are set up, people are allowed to USE children in order to be awarded money to live a lifestyle that not only they did not earn, but that is way above and beyond the child’s reasonable needs,” the celebrity mom added.
“That is ‘THE WRONG’ and where I see abuse,” Berry continued. “The laws are outdated and no longer reflect the modern world. This is just my opinion, I clearly don’t own the truth. I can say I’m living it every day, and I can tell you it’s hard. I do totally understand the feelings of those men who feel they are and have been taken advantage of by the system.”
Halle Berry will continue to pay Nahla’s private school tuition under the new child support agreement. The actress will also pay her for her daughter’s healthcare expenses.
