Snoop’s wife, Shante Broadus, announced her granddaughter’s arrival on Instagram. “I was down earlier but she just took all of that away,” Shantel shared. “My 6th grandBaby girl #ChateauBroaudus,” the celebrity grandmother wrote online. “I love you, Baby Girl,” Shantel said. “[I] can’t wait to hold you in my arms.”

Chateau is the youngest of three children Cordell Broadus fathers. Cordell and Phia have a daughter named Cordoba together whom they welcomed in 2019. Cordell also has an older son named Champion from his previous relationship with Marissa Hopkins.

It may be hard for some to believe Cordell is a dad. Many, after all, still remember Snoop Dogg’s son playing football in high school and furthering his prospects in the sport at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). Broadus left football in 2015 to the shock and disproval of some.

“When I left [football] a lot of people gave me backlash, but a lot of people also reached out and told me I was brave and that was something that they wish they could do,” Cordell recently said of the reactions to his decision to fully embrace his creative itch in the film industry. “My mind has always been creative and I just felt like in 2014, 2015, there was a lack of representation of people who look like me in the creative world,” Broadus shared. “I just was tired of wishing for somebody to do it and I put that on myself to do it.”

Cordell plans to release what he believes will be his break in the film industry soon in the form of a documentary, Son of Kings, which will revolve around his family’s heritage.

“My whole life I just always heard stories about my family and the legacy that, not only my dad but my grandfather and the ones that came before us,” Broadus said during an interview with WWD. “I just always wanted to tell something that I knew, because I took a writing class at UCLA for film and the professor always said, write what you know,” the young creative shared. “I know my family, so I want to start right there in my film career.”
