Not even a week after announcing their expectancy of a third child, Ne-Yo and his wife, Crystal Renay, have been forced to sift through comments accusing Ne-Yo of forcing his ex, Monyetta Shaw, to have her tubes tied. Crystal addressed the criticism in a recent Twitter post where she spoke directly to a troll who bolstered lies about Ne-Yo and Monyetta’s relationship.

“What about his first wife he convinced to sterilize herself then left her,” the critic asked upon learning the Ne-Yo and Crystal were expecting another child together. “I’m his first wife boo,” Crystal responded to the troll.
The expectant star went on to say, “I’m being accurate since you want to be in something so bad. I respect the mother of his kids and facts are facts. He didn’t request nor make anyone do anything. She has moved on and is in love, happy as hell. You should try it. Simple-minded child.”
Ne-Yo and Crystal Renay announced their expectancy this past weekend. Many were happy for the celebrities who used the COVID-19 lockdowns as an opportunity to work through the marital issues that nearly led to divorce. Some critics, however, could not move beyond Ne-Yo and Monyetta Shaw’s former love relationship, which ended more than five years ago, long enough to appreciate the producer’s family expansion with his wife.
Monyetta Shaw has never accused Ne-Yo of “forcing” her to have her tubes tied. The celebrity did, however, at one point express regret in undergoing the procedure.
“Adding to the pain is knowing that if I find another man to love, I may not be able to start a family with him,” Shaw shared in an op-ed written for the New York Post in 2016. “I’m too scared to go to a doctor to find out if there’s anything they can do about it,” the celebrity said at the time. “Because I do want to get married someday, and if my future husband does not have kids, I will want to have his children.”
Monyetta Shaw learned there may be a way for her to have kids despite having her tubes tied years ago. The celebrity is presently engaged to Heath.
