"It's Not Going To Be Picture Perfect"

Gabrielle Union sees the comments that criticize her for allegedly failing to comb her daughter Kaavia James’ hair. The L.A.’s Finest star recently sat down with Madame Noire exclusively to talk about hair health and trolls who complain about her toddler’s mane.

“I try not to obsess over Zaya and Kaav’s hair,” Gabrielle shared during her talk with Madame Noire. “Kaav swims every day, so even when her hair is done in the morning, she swims,” Union shared. “So it’s not going to be picture perfect or whatever people feel that means. I’m human.”

A few Internet trolls have taken the appearance of Kaav’s hair to heart and accused Gabrielle Union of failing to properly care for her daughter’s mane. “I see comments where they’re like, ‘That child’s hair is never done.’ And it is done,” Union told Madame Noire. “I just don’t chase her around making sure that we document her looking super, super done every single day,” the celebrity mom explained.

“Kaav is going to run around here during a pandemic after swim class and it’s going to be what it is,” Gabrielle continued. “You’ll see her natural curls. You’ll also see that they’re going to be moisturized. That’s more of what I care about, hair health, not the style.”

Union says that she cares for her own tresses through a routine that includes deep conditioning, steaming, and periodical trims. Gabrielle makes certain her daughters, Kaavia and Zaya, see her beauty routine from start to finish.

“It’s one thing to say, ‘Oh your hair is beautiful as it is’ while you’re getting a relaxer every six weeks,” Union shared. “What you say and what you’re doing don’t (sic) match,” the actress said.

For the record, it has been over 15 years since Gabrielle Union’s last relaxer session.

Gabrielle Union and her husband, Dwyane Wade, parent four kids together. Kaavia James is the couple’s only child together. You can learn more about the life and times of Kaavia James in Gabrielle and Dwyane’s forthcoming children’s book, Shady Baby. Order your copy here!
