Singer Brandy took to Instagram on Tuesday (Feb. 16) to dote on daughter Sy’rai Smith. The celebrity mom shared a sweet photo of her daughter and captioned, “You are truly the light of my life,” Brandy wrote to her daughter.
“I’m so in love with your Spirit,” the recording artist continued. “You are so beautiful and I am beyond blessed to be your Mommy and share life with you. My Angel and my Best friend.”
Brandy and Sy’rai received the royal treatment as photographer Renny Vasquez took pictures after giving the celebrity mom and her daughter fabulous makeup sessions. “Thank you @rennyvasquez for this magical photography and loving on our faces with your beautiful gift,” Brandy wrote to her photographer.
The ‘I Wanna Be Down’ singer celebrated her forty-second birthday last Thursday (Feb. 11). “Thank you, God, for empowering me to embrace the love and light guiding my path,” Brandy shared on Instagram. “As I embark on this next chapter, I now understand the key to happiness is choosing what to accept and what to let go,” the celebrity mom said. “I appreciate all your beautiful birthday messages,” Brandy wrote to her fans.

Many became acquainted with Brandy during the 90s when the singer topped the charts with her soulful sound. The celebrity also had the leading role on the hit series Moesha, which further propelled her into the spotlight. Now, Brandy spends more of her time mentoring her daughter who aspires to be a recording artist just like her mom.
“It’s my job to teach her everything I know about this business and about singing,” Brandy said of her investment in Sy’rai’s budding career. “But at the same time, [I want to] give her the space to find her own sound, find her own path, and just be here in the wings whenever she needs me.”
