Taye Diggs’ son, Walker, has a few rules for his father when it comes to dating. The main stipulation revolves around age. Taye recently revealed his son’s age limit when it comes to women his dad may consider asking out for an evening of fun.

“I showed him one girl that was on Instagram and he immediately asked how old she was,” Diggs said during an interview promoting his show, All American. The woman on Instagram was 24-years-old, according to Taye, which was completely unacceptable for Walker. “[He said], ‘Absolutely not. she has to be at least 26.’ He wouldn’t like it, but she has to be at least 26. He was being generous,” Taye explained.

Walker’s parents ended their relationship in divorce back in 2014. Taye Diggs and his ex-wife, Idina Menzel, were married for 10 years before separating in 2013. The former celebrity couple’s marriage dissolution was finalized the following year.

Taye and Idina met on the set of Rent, which turned out to be a hit film in more ways than one. “Rent is literally the gift that keeps on giving,” Diggs shared during a recent interview on The Drew Barrymore Show. “I met my baby mama there, it was the beginning of my career,” the actor explained. “That’s where it all started.”

Diggs is sure to explain the significance of Rent to his son while doting on his ex-wife. “I love the fact that I was there at the beginning,” the actor told Drew Barrymore while promoting All American.

“She made history in that show and continues to make history with her singing and whatnot, and to know that I was right there, I love sharing that with my son,” Diggs revealed. “Like, ‘Daddy was there, when mommy first, when the world first listened to her.’ So that’s cool as well.”

Walker is Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel’s only child. You can catch Season 3 of All American on Netflix.
