Tennis great Serena Williams recently revealed that her 2-year-old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., is a budding fashionista.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Serena Williams spoke about her young daughter’s eye for fashion, saying that Olympia even “dresses me and her father [Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian Sr].” “She’ll set up before bed what we need to wear in the morning,” says Williams. “And she says, ‘Blue shirt, blue shirt, blue shirt.’ And then she goes, ‘Mama wear this or these shoes.’ She always tells me to [wear] heels. She’s currently wearing heels.”
Serena Williams and her family are currently waiting out the coronavirus pandemic under home quarantine. She and young Olympia have spent their time showing off many matching outfits, which include Disney princess outfits, tennis outfits, and pajamas. “So now if she sees me in something, and she has the same thing, she immediately wants to change so we’re twins,” says Williams.
Olympia isn’t just savvy enough to coordinate her esteemed mother’s outfits, she also got to walk down the runway with her mother during her S by Serena fashion show at New York Fashion Week in 2019. Serena hopes to one day create a fashion line inspired by Olympia. “I want to design a line of baby-wear inspired by my daughter,” says Williams. “I take her everywhere, and I hope to have more children.”
Serena Williams is just as fashionable as her young daughter. Not just with clothing, but with jewelry as well. Williams has her own jewelry brand, and she launched a new jewelry collection during the COVID-19 pandemic called the Unstoppable Collection. Proceeds from the Collection will be donated to Black-owned businesses through the nonprofit Opportunity Fund.
Serena Williams says that Olympia doesn’t care about jewelry for now, but jokes that “if something happens to me, she can have all my jewelry, but until then, no.”
