Of course, first and foremost, the name “Olympia” should conjure visual images of obviously, the Olympics, of which Bolt was at one point a permanent fixture, setting the world record in the 100 meters, 200 meters, an d 4 X 100 meters relay.
Next, the name should take you back to where it all began for the Greeks in history-Mt. Olympus. “Olympia” is of Greek origin, meaning “Of Mount Olympus,” which is the fabled home of the Greek god and goddesses.
According to NameBerry.com, “[Olympia] has an athletic, goddess-like aura,” a perfect fit for the daughter or a sprinting legend.
In terms of her middle name, well, if you remember your Olympic history correctly, Bolt’s achievements as a sprinter earned him the media nickname, “Lightning Bolt”. Bolt is widely recognized and considered to be the greatest and fastest sprinters of all time.
Bolt released his daughter’s name in an Instagram post, captioning it, “I want to wish my gf @kasi.b a happy birthday and To let u know I am happy I get to spend ur special day with u. I want nothing but happiness for u and will continue to doing my best keeping a smile on ur face. Now we have started a new chapter together with our daughter Olympia Lightning Bolt I look forward to what the future will bring for us but be reassured that I will be the ROCK for this family. I Love you and happy 21th birthday 😂😂😂.”
Congratulations to the happy couple. A perfect name for an adorable little lady. Wonder if she too will follow in her famous father’s footsteps. Only time will tell.
