NBA star Carmelo Anthony and actress La La Anthony are co-quarenting (quarantine-parenting) their 13-year-old son Kiyan amid the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. Though they have been separated for a few years, the former couple is not letting the coronavirus lockdown keep them from spending quality time with their son.
As with many celebrity families, the Anthony family show their quality time spent through social media. Last month, Carmelo shared a humorous TikTok video on his Instagram in which Kiyan shares tips and advice on following health protocols to prevent the spread of coronavirus. In the lighthearted video his parents both appear in, Kiyan dances and cleans surfaces, rapping to the song “The Box” by Roddy Ricch. Kiyan’s lyrics read:
“Pullin’ out the broom and the mop/ Trying get the COVID to stop/ Bussin’ all the drip out the box…/ Can’t play basketball, Imma get lazy/ Playing dad one-on-one, it’s getting crazy/ So stay inside your crib take it easy…/ Call my family and friends/ They might need me.”
Carmelo captioned the video: “I see you CHAMP. STAY CORONA-FREE.” La La commented: “My baby‼️” Sports Center’s Instagram page also responded with a hilarious comment which read: “He went off.”
The NBA season was suspended indefinitely on March 11, after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus. In the wake of the NBA’s suspension, many other sports leagues and organizations also suspended their seasons and either postponed or cancelled their upcoming events. With lockdowns, curfews and quarantines being enforced across the nation, many people, including the Anthony family, are forced to stay home and practice social distancing. As shown by the video, Carmelo and La La are clearly having a good time caring for their son amidst the coronavirus pandemic. As long as they listen to Kiyan’s advice, they will fare in the midst of the pandemic just fine.
