Living up to a Super Bowl champion quarterback like Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks is a tough task for any child to live up to, but Wilson is making sure his 5-year-old stepson Future Zahir gets a good start. In a March 31 Instagram post, Russell Wilson released a video of himself teaching Future Zahir football drills.
In the two minute video, Wilson and Future Zahir can first be seen in a small gym stretching and then they go outside to a football field, where the duo practice various speed and agility drills. Wilson teaches Future Zahir how to look and move around the field and they take turns throwing and catching the football. As it turns out, Future Zahir can catch well and he has a good throwing arm for his age, so he has potential to actually become a quarterback when he grows up. Russell Wilson certainly thinks so, as he captioned the video: “Bonding Time! #HardWork w/ Future 🏈🏈🏈. Fun ballin’ today! The Best Teammate! QB in the making!”
Aside from football, the father-son duo is also fond of baseball. Russell Wilson played college baseball at North Carolina State, then was drafted by the Colorado Rockies and played 93 minor league games before being traded to the New York Yankees. Though Russell Wilson doesn’t play for the Yankees professionally due to his successful NFL career, he does attend their spring training. Meanwhile, Future Zahir enjoys playing Little League baseball and Russell Wilson has the Instagram posts to prove it. One post has Future Zahir posing with a bat and sitting with his Little League teammates, while the other post shows him posing in his Little League uniform. Pop singer Ciara, Future Zahir’s mother and Wilson’s wife, commented on the photo with a blue heart.
As long as he has Russell Wilson to teach him and show him the moves, Future Zahir will have a guaranteed future in sports if he wants it.
