Love and Hip Hop: New York (LHHNY) star Safaree Samuels is changing the conversation about postpartum weight loss. The celebrity father recently wrote an Instagram post that spoke of his weight gain during his wife Erica Mena’s pregnancy.
“I gained 12 lbs during my pregnancy and gained 10% body fat,” Safaree wrote online earlier this week. The LHHNY star also shared a snapshot of his latest fitness evaluation that showed his current weight and overall body mass. “I used to be 10,” Safaree said of his body fat percentage. “For the month of March, I will be in the gym 23 hrs a day,” he declared.
Erica Mena commented on her husband’s recent weight gain. “I’m sorry for flaunting NY pizza with Caesar dressing to dip it in and all those amazing glaze bow ties from Dunkin in front of you for eight months,” the celebrity mom said. “But I appreciate you enjoying my cravings with me,” Erica told her husband. “Now we are round and lushes together, honey.”

Some who read Safaree’s comments thought the LHHNY star was just being comical. Others, however, agreed with the notion of men gaining weight along with their expectant partners during pregnancy. “Gaining weight during pregnancy, that is a big one that happens to couples,” one fan said. Another of Safaree’s social media followers wrote, “[I] love how you say your pregnancy.”
The most recent episode of Love and Hip Hop: New York showed fans just how committed Safaree was during his wife’s expectancy. The celebrity father canceled his performance without giving a second thought about the matter upon learning that Erica was going into labor. Safaree is also the doting dad online who shares videos and pictures of his newborn.
