Remy Ma is the latest celebrity subjected to mommy shaming. The recording artist came under strong scrutiny earlier this week after sharing a video clip that showed her daughter, Reminisce MacKenzie, taking a sip of Coke.
Remy shared the clip with her fans as a way to give insight into the lighter side of motherhood. “@ReminisceMacKenzieMackie is such a sweetheart,” Remy told her social media fans. “She ‘shared’ her @cocacola with me.” Reminisce, also referred to as The Golden Child by her parents and loved ones, indeed shared the Coke with her mom. The little one poured the beverage onto her mother’s outfit.
Many thought the interaction between Remy Ma and Reminisce was absolutely adorable. “I’m not surprised,” Safaree said after watching the clip. Some, however, took the footage as an opportunity to criticize Remy for giving her daughter soda.
“Why would you let such a young baby drink soda,” one Instagram follower asked. Another social media critic wrote, “I don’t get how parents can give their kids pop. I mean, I know you feel what it does to your throat. What you think it’s doing to their’s?”
The experts agree that parents should probably avoid giving their kids soda. “Sugary drinks are the number one source of calories from added sugar in the American diet and in children’s diets,” Dr. Rachel Johnson shared with NY Daily News during a recent interview. “This is a great place to start in cutting sugar,” the doctor suggested.
Is it really a big deal that Remy Ma let her daughter sip a little bit of Coke on a single occasion? Probably not. Stay tuned for more celebrity family news!
