Jalaiah Harmon is making waves on and off the dance floor. If you haven’t heard her name, you have definitely seen her dance. This talented 14-year-old is the one who created the Renegade set to K Camp’s song “Lottery”.
Hailing from Fayetteville, GA, the young dancer trains in hip-hop, ballet, lyrical, jazz, tumbling and tap. Studying viral dances in her spare time, Harmon collaborated with her friends and posted original choreography online and it has gone viral.
And of course, everyone who is anyone is dancing the Renegade. From high schoolers at pep rallies and across the internet to Lizzo, Kourtney Kardashian, David Dobrik and members of the K-pop band Stray Kids, everyone is getting their groove on. However, no one knew that Harmon was the one behind the dance craze. In actuality, Charli D’Amelio, a TikTok’s influencer, was credited for popularizing it.
“I was happy when I saw my dance all over,” Harmon said in an interview with The New York Times. “But I wanted credit for it.”
Harmon first posted the dance on Funimate and then to her Instagram account. She and her friend Kaliyah perfomed it side-by-side. The video was then shared on TikTok and it spread like wildfire. D’Amelo posted herself doing the dance and Harmon got lost in the whirlwind.
“I think I could have gotten money for it, promos for it, I could have gotten famous off it, get noticed,” Harmon continued in her interview. “I don’t think any of that stuff has happened for me because no one knows I made the dance.”
The record has been set straight and Harmon has stepped full force into the creator spotlight. She was invited to perform her creation at the NBA All Star Game.

Additionally, TicTok influencers Charli D’Amelio and Addison Easterlin, shared the spotlight with Harmon.
It looks like she is now getting the credit that she deserves. We cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!
