According to The Blast,
“DCFS officials in Los Angeles will be involved in Tuesday’s court hearing that will decide the emergency placement of Nipsey’s daughter, Emani. … Officials are going to want to discuss the most beneficial placement for Emani, so that the girl can be around people she’s familiar with, and grow up in a stimulating environment.”
Samantha Smith initiated the pending child custody case a few weeks back when she petitioned the courts for temporary custody of Nipsey Hussle’s daughter. Emani went to live with her mother, Tanisha Asghedom, after the untimely death of her father. Nipsey had full custody of his daughter at the time of his passing.

Samantha was denied temporary custody of Emani within a few days of her request being submitted. The judge overseeing the case did not see the need for Emani’s immediate removal from Tanisha’s custody and ordered that the child’s mother be notified of the upcoming hearing. Nipsey Hussle’s mother, Angelique Smith, was also notified and invited to attend the upcoming hearing. The late rapper’s brother, Samiel Asghedom, is also involved in the matter and has even filed documents in support of Samantha Smith gaining custody of Emani.
Nipsey Hussle was murdered outside of his store, Marathon Clothing, in Los Angeles on March 31, 2019. He was 33-years-old at the time of his death. Nipsey was the father of two children, Emani and Kross Asghedom. The custody hearing for Emani is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Stay tuned for updates regarding the 10-year-old’s custody.
