DRAKE TALKS FATHERHOOD AND MORE ON HBO’S ‘THE SHOP’

"I Am A Single Father Learning To Communicate With A Woman Who… You Know, We’ve Had Our Moments"

Drake aired out some of the details of his personal life during his recent appearance alongside LeBron James on HBO’s The Shop. Viewers got the inside scoop about the rapper’s life as a father during the show.

“[I was] more scared to tell my mom because my mom has had real belief and real relationships with women in my life, like, over the course of my years,” Drake said of sharing news of his fathering a child with his family and friends. “I’m sure she would expect or be elated if I were to have gotten one of those women pregnant… So it was tough for me to tell her that it’s somebody that she’s never met.”

News of Drake having a son started spreading after rival rapper Pusha-T ousted him on a record earlier this year. “A baby’s involved, it’s deeper than rap,” Pusha said in the song, ‘The Story of Adidon.’ T further rapped, “You are hiding a child, let that boy come home/ Deadbeat motha^$%, playin’ border patrol.”

Drake later confirmed that he was indeed the father of a child in his home country of Canada but denied allegations of him hiding the child or being a deadbeat. “The kid is mine,” Drake admitted in his track, ‘Emotionless.’ The recording artist went on to say, “I wasn’t hiding my kid from the world/I was hiding the world from my kid.”

Now, with the air clear, Drake is ready to give a few details about his life as a father. “I am a single father learning to communicate with a woman who… you know, we’ve had our moments,” the celebrity dad said of his relationship with the mother of his child on The Shop.

“I do want to be able to explain to my son what happened,” the rapper continued. “But I don’t have any desire for him to, like, not love his mother… I don’t ever want the world to be angry at his mother. We have found ourselves in a situation and we are both equally responsible, and now I’m just really excited to be a great father. I have a son, he’s a beautiful boy.”
