It's All About Gratitude And Giving Back

Garcelle Beauvais and her sons, Jaid and Jax, were all about the Children Mending Hearts charity this past weekend. The celebrity mom and her kids were three of many in attendance at the nonprofit’s tenth annual Empathy Rocks event, which was held in Los Angeles on Sunday.

It was just last year that the celebrity mom shared her philosophy of gratitude with Live Happy. “The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is make a list of all the things I’m grateful for,” Garcelle revealed to the media outlet. “Thank you for another day. Thank you for my family. Thank you for my home. Thank you for my health. Thank you for my body, because some days I abuse it and I don’t give it the rest it needs.”

Beauvais also told media how she works to rear grateful children. “I always tell [my sons], ‘I am not raising ungrateful children,’ and I’ll ask them to tell me three things they’re grateful for. Garcelle even reminisced about a time when one of her sons expressed gratitude for slavery coming to an end. According to the youngster, “‘Since you’re black, mom, you’d be a slave.’ They were discussing slavery in school, but still, that startled me.”
