This is Black Girl Magic at its finest! Blackish star Marsai Martin will both star in and executive produce a new comedy film called Little.
According to THR
The Black-ish breakout is attached to star in the Universal comedy that centers on a woman who gets the chance to relive the carefree life as her younger self (Martin), when the pressures of adulthood become too much. The deal is not only noteworthy for Martin as an actress (it will mark her first studio feature) but also a creative force. The 13-year-old came up with the idea for the script and will also executive produce.
In many ways, Marsai Martin is wise beyond her thirteen years of life. The teen has warmed our hearts in the hit series Black-ish and, based on her latest quest to produce something of her own, understands the value of timing.
Marsai opened up about her career goals during an interview with the Los Angeles Times last year. “I see myself directing, writing, doing my own TV shows and movies,” the young star said. “I see myself being a legend! I don’t know what 30-year-old or 20-year-old Marsai would want, but there’s a path for me. And I want an EGOT!”
It seems that Martin is well on her way to fulfilling her desires. Stay tuned for more news about Marsai’s comedy, starring rapper Snoop Dogg and Marina Sirtis of Star Trek.
