LaVar Ball is at it again! The businessman recently hinted at the possibility of his son, LaMelo, passing on the opportunity to play for the UCLA Bruins due to NCAA rules and the effect they may have on his son’s latest business venture in which the teen released his very own signature sneaker line.
“The only thing they worried about is the money,” LaVar revealed during a recent interview with ESPN. “How you thinking about not saying that the shoe look good or nothing like that? The first thing they’re trying to say is. ‘How can we make him ineligible?’ This has never happened before. So, you don’t even have a rule for it. You’re trying to find one. To say, ‘Yo, we gotta make him ineligible because he can’t be making money off a shoe.'”
LaVar previously told media that he could care less if LaMelo’s shoe release made him ineligible to play for the UCLA Bruins in the NCAA. “Here’s the thing, man. I ain’t worried about no NCAA when I’m creating something for my boy within my family,” the businessman said. “What do I care about that for? They’re not going to be like, ‘You know what, LaVar? I don’t care it’s your family brand but don’t release that shoe.'”
Many criticized LaVar for declaring his son as a better ballplayer than Stephen Curry. Still, despite the scrutiny, LaVar continues to be the beaming dad. “They think I’m just talking,” LaVar said a few weeks ago. “I told them years ago that my boys are going to put Chino Hills on the map.”
LaMelo is certainly bringing notoriety to the area with dozens waiting in great anticipation for the teen to graduate high school and start playing for the UCLA Bruins. Stay tuned for more LaVar Ball and LaMelo celebrity news!
