Michael Render, a.k.a. Killer Mike, is encouraging the fearless spirit in his daughter, Mikey. The celebrity father took to Instagram to celebrate his youngster in her decision to rock her natural hair earlier this month.
“Young Mikey aka Young #AngelaDavis on’em! Young #Assata aka #RebelRevoltRevival aka #KidPower,” Killer Mike told fans. The rapper also shared a picture of his daughter smiling while rocking her afro.
Killer Mike went on to express support for his daughter’s decision to be bold in her hairstyle choices. “Got a call from Mikey’s (my 10yr old girl) mom, Muffy. She said Mikey wanted to wear her hair in an air fro to work and wanted me to talk Mikey outta it,” he explained. “Mom ain’t thrilled but Mikey gets to express herself and Muff doesn’t look like an ‘I didn’t do my child’s hair’ mom,” he mused.”Congrats Mikey and U are a great mother Muffy.”

Mikey definitely takes after her paternal grandmother who passed away last week. “My mother has transitioned to be with our ancestors,” Mike shared in one of many heartfelt Instagram posts that paid tribute to his mother. The rapper went on to tell fans that his mom was courageous in pursuing her education despite the stigma associated with teen pregnancy.

“I’m lucky she decided and choose to have me while still a student at Frederick Douglass High School,” the celebrity father wrote. “She was a warrior queen,” Mike added. “She was my example of true spirit and determination. She taught me to GRIND and never wait for another man to feed me. When any one celebrates me I know they are in fact celebrating the job she did as a leader teaching me to be one as well. I love u girl. I love u sooooooo much.”
