Connie Britton is the star of the hit television series Nashville with wisdom from which many of her co-stars glean. The actress, however, gets much of her inspiration from her 6-year-old son, Yoby.
“My son is adopted from Ethiopia so I always say I can take very little credit, but he, from the beginning, just inherently has had such an open and curious heart and love of life,” she tells PEOPLE. “He’s very into learning and seeing what’s happening and seeing what people are doing,” Connie adds. “I just love that about him. And it immediately opens me up as well.”
Such insight gives Connie the opportunity to give words of wisdom onset. “I got to shoot this wonderful scene with her right at the end,” Clare Bowen recently said of Connie during an interview with Page Six. “It was the last conversation that Scarlett had with Rayna right before she passed away,” the Nashville star explained.
“[Connie] did this beautiful monologue and she ad-libbed half of it and I was sitting there crying because it was so beautiful. She said, ‘You deserve to be happy. It doesn’t matter if everyone else wants you to be with this guy and that guy is telling you that you’re the one for him and you’re the only one. It doesn’t mean that you belong with him because you deserve to be happy and you deserve to find that happiness within yourself and wherever it may lay.'”
The moment brought Bowen to tears. Yoby is Connie Britton’s only child. The Nashville star adopted the little one from Ethiopia in 2011.
