JR Smith and his wife, Jewel Harris, are in celebration mode. The couple took their daughter, Dakota, home after several months of the little one residing in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of Hillcrest Hospital.
“We Walked In Together We Walked Out Together,” JR exclaimed online. “Thank you so much to our extended family at the #NICU You all are truly the WORLDS GREATEST!”
JR and Jewel have been through much these past few months as their daughter was born prematurely back in January. Dakota came five months ahead of schedule, which made her parents concerned about her development.
“We know we’re not the only family going through this, who has been through this, and who will ever go through it,” JR said in a video message in January in which he and Jewel solicited the thoughts and prayers of fans. Months later, JR shared a snapshot of Dakota’s progress board in which the little one had come to weigh six pounds. “Our baby has made it to 6lbs today,” he exclaimed. “So happy for your family,” a fan wrote.
Now, Dakota is at home and will soon be ready for big sisters Demi and Peyton to show her the ropes. Jewel and JR Smith parent three kids together.
