Actresses Yara Shahidi and Zendaya, along with twelve-year-old editor-in-chief, Marley Dias have used their voices and star-studded statuses to call attention to a variety of issues in today’s world that affect not only women but immigrants and the global community as a whole. As a result of their altruistic natures, the three talented young women have been thrust into the role of “activist,” and have landed three spots on Essence magazine’s first ever #woke100 list because of their efforts.
