Divorce proceedings for Stephen Belafonte and Melanie Brown, Mel B, have taken a unique turn. Not only does Belafonte want to retain custodial rights of his and Mel B’s daughter, Madison, but he also wants to obtain visitation rights for Angel, who is Melanie’s daughter with Eddie Murphy.
TMZ reports,
“Mel B now wants sole custody of Madison, which sets up a custody fight. But now sources connected with Belafonte tell us he will ask a judge for visitation rights for 10-year-old Angel. Belafonte believes he’s been the father in her life from birth … he married Mel B 2 months after she was born.”

Stephen may not get his wish of visitation rights for Angel without a fight. It was just a few days ago that Mel B petitioned the court for sole custody of Madison after at first agreeing to maintain a joint custody arrangement with her estranged husband. Mel allegedly recently discovered that Stephen had a conviction for domestic violence on his record that prohibited him from having a gun in his possession. Brown knew that Belafonte was a gun owner. Perhaps she viewed such behavior as too risky and, as a result, decided to pursue sole custody of their daughter.
Madison is Melanie Brown and Stephen Belafonte’s only child together. Mel B has three kids in all.
