One mention of her name, Heaven King, and images of the adorable 6-year-old immediately pop into memory as you recall her dancing to “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) on YouTube. Ever since, the tiny dance sensation and her big talent have been thrust into the entertainment spotlight, as she has appeared on a variety of shows ranging from Ellen to her very own realty-like series, Raising Heaven. Just when you thought that the gifted young star couldn’t tug at your heart strings anymore, she and her mom, Tianne King, manage the feat with a new video, directed and produced by King herself.
In collaboration with Grammy nominee, Andra Day, the dancing mother and daughter craft a story that is beyond words about their rise up. “The visuals are beautiful and they absolutely speak to overcoming,” Day told ESSENCE Magazine in an interview. “They speak to me personally because myself and my family have had to overcome poverty and trying to make a dream come true when you are barely making it day to day.”
Day, who first met King in NYC, goes on to tell ESSENCE that, “mother and daughter relationships are what nations are built on. I think this story is so important to tell, particularly right now, because the value of women is under attack. This video shows the strength of a woman, the loyalty, the love, the selflessness, and resilience. These are all qualities of a great leader and when I watch this video I can see these qualities that Tianne is building in Heaven.”
The video with Day is one of many that the dynamic duo are working on for fans. Through their reality like series on go90, in conjunction with Mommy & Me Entertainment and DanceOn, fans will get to continue on the inspirational journey with King and Heaven, not missing a beat.
