He turned eighteen and released a new single all in the same week. Jaden Smith took full advantage of his birthday with a song that addressed social issues and commemorated his special day.

‘LABOR V2’ begins with Jaden announcing that he was “18.” The artist then goes into his rhyme, which talks about his journey into manhood and obstacles that present themselves. “Confused teen, and I might be/ In between an innovator and a hype beast/ And I know you don’t like me.”

Jaden also addressed the social uprising over police brutality. “And how many times am I telling them/ Just because you see the melanin doesn’t mean that I’m a felon/ I’m here to show you the intelligence,” he rhymed.

Jaden’s parents sent him well wishes on his birthday. “Happy Bday, Jaden,” Will Smith exclaimed. “You’re 18 years old today. And I’m still tryna figure out what the h*** I’m doing.”

Jada Pinkett-Smith also wrote a sweet message to her son. “Jaden, You are the prince of my heart,” she said. “I have no doubt that you were born to me to show me how deeply I can love. You are one of the brightest lights of my life. You are my son, my friend, a walking embodiment of my soul, my treasure.”

The fashion world has been heavily influenced by Jaden’s style that is less conventional and more explorative. The young star became the first male ambassador for Luis Vuitton who unashamedly rocked a skirt a few months ago. “The world is going to keep bashing me for whatever I do, and I’m going to keep not caring,” he told NYLON. “I’m going to keep doing the same things—I’m going to keep doing more things. I’m going to take most of the blows for my fellow MSFTS. So, you know, in five years when a kid goes to school wearing a skirt, he won’t get beat up and kids won’t get mad at him. It just doesn’t matter.”

Jaden Smith was born on July 8, 1998. He is the second oldest of the Smith kids. Jada and Will Smith have two children, Jaden and Willow, together. Will has three kids in all.
