Keonna Green is breaking the silence on her and ex-boyfriend Nick Young’s expectancy. The celebrity mom gives details surrounding her and the NBA star’s relationship exclusively to Us Weekly.
On how she and Nick met
“Nick and I met in high school in 2002. I cheerleaded; he played basketball. We kind of instantly connected. I actually had the crush on him first. My way of trying to lure him was to give him … those cookies they have from Mrs. Fields. … My cheerleading squad, we had to do a secret Santa–type thing for the basketball players, so I basically went up to all the girls on the cheerleading squad, saying, ‘Whoever has Nick, I want him.'”
About the relationship
“I wouldn’t say there were a lot of ups and downs, but when we did have ups and downs, at that point, we were very young. It wasn’t anything too serious. We would fight, then get over it. I was kind of like the territorial girlfriend. I was like, ‘Wait a minute, what is he doing, which hallway is he down?’ Things like that. Of course, a lot of women were, I guess you could say, flocking towards him.”
Being with a star athlete
“Let me tell you, being with a basketball player then and now? Totally different. … I guess I would say it was different back then because now, I’m not the captain of anything. I’m just the mother of his child. Whereas back then, I was the captain of my cheerleading squad. So whatever he could do, I was just as good at it. It’s completely different now and then.”
How Keonna and Nick reconnected after breaking up
“It was last year, around September. We would take our son to Magic Mountain together. But sometimes Nick would say, ‘Oh, there’s too much traffic,’ and he’d just play with Nicholas in his room. We got caught up in the moment and it just happened.”
Future relations?
“We haven’t discussed how we’re going to move forward. Right now, he needs to focus on basketball and getting his life in order. Basketball is what puts food on two people’s plates that he’s taking care of. But I will definitely give it a chance if he comes back and says, ‘I’m really going to make this work this time.’ Why not? But if there was ever any inkling of disrespect … I’m going to be raising a daughter. I would want to let her know that she deserves the world.”
Nick Young and Keonna Green have a son named Nick Jr. The celebrities are expecting their daughter to arrive in coming weeks as Keonna is approaching her third trimester of expectancy.
