First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters, Sasha and Malia, are bound for Europe. The White House announced the first lady’s week-long trip to various countries throughout the continent, and plans to take her daughters along, on Thursday.
The Obama women will tour Europe during the week of June 15-21, 2015. They will stop in London, where First Lady Obama will meet with political leaders and capitalize on opportunities to partner with the United Kingdom to bring more educational possibilities to girls. Michelle and her daughters will also visit United States troops in Venice, Italy.
Although Sasha and Malia will more than likely be excited about their trip to Europe with mom, the first lady has told media that the girls are not always thrilled to be out in public with their parents. “We’re the last people our kids want to be with,” said Michelle during a recent interview. “I think they’re conditioning us for that empty nest syndrome, but we’re not relishing that at all. We don’t know what we’re going to do. I’ve got to get [Barack] some more hobbies.”
Sasha Obama celebrated her fourteenth birthday on Wednesday. Malia will turn 17-years-old next month, and begin her collegiate career next year. Michelle’s mother will also accompany the first lady and her daughters on their European tour.
