Quvenzhane Wallis has conquered Hollywood, but it’s not over yet. With absolute assurance the young actress told the NY Post that when she grows up she will be both an actress and a veterinarian, “because I like animals, and all animals are adorable.”
So it must have been a dream come true to act along “Sandy” while shooting the Annie remake, which hits theatres December 19th, just in time for the holidays. On set, Quvenzhane even brought her own dog Sammy to be by her side. The company would be helpful considering she had to spend three months shooting on location in NY, far from her Louisiana home. Luckily, she had a great cast by her side to keep her spirits high.
The starlet said that the best part of working with Jamie Foxx was his ability to make her laugh. “If I was sad, he brought me right back up because he’s a funny guy.” She also had Cameron Diaz by her side, who is nothing like Ms. Hannigan in reality. “Cameron’s really funny, and she’s like a mother to me,” Quvenzhane explained. “It’s really funny how she changes characters on set. She goes from all nice to like a rude person.”
It has been non-stop for this little talent since her debut role in Beasts of the Southern Wild made her the youngest person to receive an Oscar nomination back in 2012. Now, her life is more exciting (and busy) than most adults. She recently admitted to tiring of all the work and travelling sometimes, but is also grateful to have such a successful career. “I like everything I have,” she clarified, noting too that she is happy she said yes when her mother asked her if she was interested in auditioning for the role of Hushpuppy — but who isn’t?
