Excitement for Annie continues to build as Sony drops its final trailer for the film. Meanwhile, Quvenzhane Wallis remains at the top of everyone’s watch-list. Last night, November 6th, the young star attended The Essence 2015 Upfront: Essence Preview Event at the Liberty Theatre in NYC.
After becoming one of the youngest Oscar nominees of all time in 2012, Quvenzhane was given the tremendous honor of portraying film’s third Annie, and the first ever to be black. The beloved tale has been a classic ever since it first hit broadway in 1977. The newest adaptation has been completely modernized, while retaining its old school charm. The young actress has said that she hopes it will get her a second run at the Academy Awards.
In celebration of the upcoming film which opens December 19th, Quvenzhane and co-star Jamie Foxx will be featured on the cover of Essence magazine. The bright and happy twosome make the cover shine after a playful shoot. “I like working with Jamie”, Quvenzhane told Essence, “he’s fun.”
